Sustainable tourism is a theme that still today struggles to be fully understood. What is it really about? And how can we move in a truly sustainable direction beyond rhetoric?
Sustainability is one of the primary objectives of the 2030 Agenda launched by the UN in 2015.
However, sustainability is not only linked to environmental aspects, as we are often erroneously led to think, but it also includes other very important issues such as the economy, society, the world of work and inclusiveness.
Is there therefore a way to define a sustainable destination, taking into account the great complexity of the issue?
Technology can help and above all suggest marketing placements to territories that up until now have been far from being considered real destinations.
In this panel we will see how a tourist destination, by measuring certain metrics, can know if and how to define itself as sustainable and consequently choose the themes on which to direct its promotional activities in order to attract the most attentive and responsible travelers. In particular, we will discover how internal and lesser-known areas can play a leading role in this positive change.
