The outlook for the Italian tourism supply chain

The tourism supply chain represents an important element for the Italian economy with a strong potential in terms of the development and growth of employment.

The centrality of this sector was particularly visible during the pandemic with the negative effects on national GDP and on companies in the sector and related industries.

Similarly, the reactivity of the sector was equally evident which, following the easing of the restrictive measures, was able to seize the strong moment of recovery that was generated with the reactivation of national and international flows. The current competitive environment is conditioned by strong uncertainty and volatility with risks of recession for the global economy.

This intervention will seek to contextualize the positioning of the Italian tourism supply chain within the current scenario so as to offer stimuli regarding any eventual responses and strategies that the sector could implement.

It becomes increasingly urgent to move towards processes of technological and organizational innovation, enhancement of skills, quality of services, towards relaunching and consolidating the supply chain also with a view to extending it to the cultural and food and wine sectors.

These guidelines are not always easily assimilated by the many micro/small businesses that are characteristic of the Italian tourist offer, and we therefore want to focus attention on the role that the Intesa Sanpaolo Group wishes to play in the evolution of the sector with specific tools and projects to seize upon the specific characteristics of the sector.
