The Caporciano copper mine, active until 1907, was the most important in Europe in the 19th century. Today it is the main site of cultural interest in the hamlet of Montecatini Val di Cecina, and it is the leading theme of the regeneration project, assigned by the call for bids “PNRR M1C3- Attractiveness of historic hamlets, a local project of cultural and social regeneration.
The intervention involves the use of the most modern audiovisual technologies (Augmented Reality, Metaverse, Holograms) to create an experience where visitors will be able to interact with virtual characters, evidence of life in the mine and in the hamlet. The use of holograms and Augmented Reality will allow the completion of the services for the visit and will be a source of attraction for the scientific interest of a technologically prestigious operation.
