Wine, innovation and female leadership

In wine tourism, in the winery, in communication: women who work in the wine sector promote innovation, sustainability, flexibility in the company.

Since the end of the pandemic, we have been witnessing the succession of a series of international crises. Uncertainty, or rather the speed of change, represents a scenario we will have to learn to live with. And female leadership is the one area that has shown the greatest capacity for resilience.

On the supply side, in Italy there are more women, 80%, who do marketing and communication work, 51% are engaged in the commercial sector and 76% deal with wine in the tourism sector. On the demand side, the interesting overtaking of men is added to this – still in favor of women – in the consumption of wine (55%) and the female prevalence among those who book visits and experiences in the winery. For the development of food and wine tourism, investigating the winning link among women, wine and style of leadership helps immensely to understand its replicability, also in other contexts.
