He has a degree in Physics and a PhD in Tourism Management. After having worked for more than twenty years as a computer scientist in some well-known “leading companies in the sector”, he has dedicated himself to university teaching, in Italy and abroad, and to research on complex tourism systems and their relationships with computer technologies.
On these topics, he has published half a dozen books and about a hundred articles for international scientific conferences and scientific magazines.
He currently teaches digital strategies in the Master’s degree course in Tourism Economics and is a Research Fellow at the “Carlo F. Dondena” Center for Research on Social Dynamics and Public Policies at the Bocconi University in Milan.
He is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a member of the Italian Physical Society, and was one of the founders of the Italian branch of the Internet Society.
For his scientific contributions, in 2017 he received the Hannes Werthner Lifetime Achievement Award from the IFITT (International Federation for Information Technology and Travel & Tourism).
